2012 - Founded Mercy House Ministries

Started with 13 members in a bar in Katanga, a notorious slum in Kampala, Uganda.

2013 - Established Mercy Junior School

Began with 5 children in Kampala, growing to serve hundreds over the years.

2014 - Initiated Masindi Canaan Farm

A 20-acre farm to support the nutritional needs of Mercy Junior Schools

Misindi High School

2018 - Opened Mercy Junior School in Masindi

Established to address educational needs in rural Masindi, starting with 53 pupils.

The Excellent Church, Kampala

The Excellent Church is a global church headquartered in Kampala, Uganda. It serves as the model church for our international community and is known for ministering in English, engaging the corporate community, and actively reaching schools and university youth fellowships.

The church is built around four family units—Joy, Peace, Love, and Righteousness—which create a strong sense of belonging through dedicated family heads. Together, we are one united, growing, and thriving church family.

Pastor Gilbert Birungi - Lead Pastor

Dr. Gilbert Birungi is an apostle by calling in the fivefold ministry, an ordained Minister and an overseer of 94 churches spread out in different parts of Uganda and East Africa. He is a Ugandan aged 39 years, married with three children and one wife, a business-oriented leader, academician, entrepreneur and the Executive Director of Mercy Junior Schools, Mercy Health Services, Mercy High School, Freedom Development Agency, and Mercy Bible Institute.
